Getting a new entertainment space in Reading

I needed a fitted bar after hosting a party where we lacked space. I decided to search near Reading Station.

I stumbled upon the site while scrolling and emailed photos. Central Bedroom and Kitchens replied with a quote that felt right for the work.

The process of organising this project was actually quite involved. I spent several days thinking on the configuration of the room before even picking up the phone. My lounge area has always felt slightly unfinished, and having a proper area for beverages felt like the perfect solution to that issue. I recall sitting in my hallway staring at a messy surface filled with glassware and realising that something had to change. The first interaction with the team was extremely straightforward, which gave me assurance. We talked different aesthetics, from contemporary minimalist looks to something traditional and timber textures. I was quite impressed by how much detail they requested about the dimensions and the existing interior of my house. It felt like they genuinely desired the final product to blend seamlessly with the balance of the building. I offered various views in the images I sent, making sure each corner was visible. They clarified that the custom type of the unit signified that precision was entirely critical to prevent any issues during the fitting. We moved back and back on possible resources, looking at swatches of quartz and various types of timber grain. It is surprising how many consideration goes into selecting the correct handles, like knobs and copyrights, which could completely change the feel of the whole construction. I needed a place where I could easily prepare drinks for friends without needing to constantly run back to the kitchen for ice or tools. The convenience of possessing everything in a single place was the primary driver for this purchase. We settled the design following a short consultation where all my concerns regarding wiring and lighting points were addressed. I liked that they did not hurry the planning stage, spending the effort to make sure that the width of the shelving was enough for my tallest bottles. It felt like a collaborative process instead than a standard sale, which is hard to find nowadays.

The fitting day arrived sooner than anticipated, and the fitter was on time and ready. He began by laying down safety covers to make sure my carpet remained clean. Watching the components being unloaded was fascinating, as the standard of the wood was immediately evident. He meticulously checked the levels of the floor before attaching the main structure of the unit. I observed as the skeleton slowly took shape, transforming a boring alcove into a practical piece. The level of craftsmanship involved in fitting the boards to the uneven surfaces of my older home was impressive. He mentioned how each piece fitted in to create maximum stability. We spent a little duration deciding on the exact height for the built-in cooler, ensuring it was easy to reach but hidden back from direct sight. The installation of the counter was the most satisfying moment of the whole process. Seeing the polished surface at last resting on the cabinets helped the vision come to life. He next fitted the glass backsplash, which immediately caused the space to feel double the breadth. The lighting were connected afterward, and testing them for the first moment was a thrill. The soft light below the shelves highlighted the bottles beautifully. I was able to see exactly how handy this would be during evening parties. The fitter was highly diligent, taking the effort to wipe down each area and remove any dust made during the cutting. He also showed me how to adjust the racks should I ever needed to store bigger pieces. The attention to precision was really great, right down to the sealant lines along the edges. It was clear that he took great pride in his work, which is always reassuring to witness. We conducted a final inspection of the finished work to make everything was perfect. I noted that a single knob was a bit loose, and he tightened it immediately with a quick twist of a tool. This thoroughness is just what I was looking for when I arranged the service.

The completed bar appears absolutely amazing and has become the main point of my downstairs. It offers a classy vibe that was formerly lacking from my reception space. The capacity is huge, allowing me to organise all my spirits, mixers, and fancy glasses in one unified unit. No more do I need to rummage through cramped kitchen cabinets to locate a bottle opener or a certain kind of glass. Everything has its proper place, which renders fitted bar hosting so much simpler and stress-free. I enjoy the way the materials reflect the light in the evenings, creating a warm ambience. My guests have now complimented the setup several times, with some actually inquiring for the contact of the people who made it. It truly feels like a custom addition tailored exactly for my needs. The height of the surface is ideal for leaning by with a glass, and the built-in LED units offer just the right amount of illumination without being too bright. Even when not in use, it works as a lovely item of furniture that lifts the whole aesthetic of the property. I spent a bit time placing my collection on the racks to create a pleasing arrangement. The glass panels truly assist in showcasing the bottles and adding dimension to the small space. It has encouraged me to try creating different cocktails that I before thought were too fussy to bother in a standard kitchen. Having the tap close might have been nice, but the area limits resulted in we opted against it to save storage space. This was a deliberate choice we took at the design stage, and I certainly not regret it. The additional cupboard space for napkins and tools is far more valuable to me in the long term.

There were a couple of minor limitations that are worth mentioning for a honest view. The wait period for the bespoke panels was a bit longer than I originally hoped. It took about six weeks from the initial deposit to the final fitting appointment. While this is expected for tailored furniture, it required a some of patience on my end. I had wanted to have it ready for a certain birthday, but we passed that deadline by a week. However, the communication from the team regarding the delay was regular, so I was not kept in the dark. I rather hold a bit more for a result that is made to endure than receive a rushed job that breaks after a few years. The start price quote was also slightly lower than the final bill, mostly because I decided to upgrade the hardware and add more internal lighting midway through the build. These changes were entirely my decision, and the company was very clear about the extra costs required. Another small issue was the amount of boxes left after the install. Although the worker tidied up the work site well, there was a significant amount of cardboard to dispose of in my recycling. It was not a huge problem, but something to consider if you have little bin room. Despite these small points, the overall journey was very good. The standard of the finish is far superior to anything I could have bought from a shop. It feels solid and durable, and I am sure it will handle decades of use. I feel the value it has given to my property far exceeds the upfront outlay. It has changed the way I enjoy my downstairs area, making it much more social. I not longer sense cramped when people visit.

Reflecting back on the entire experience, I am really glad I opted ahead with it. The first spark originated from a visit to a neighbour's place in Oxford, where they had a comparable bar. I realised then how much it enhanced the movement of the evening. When I returned to Reading, I started researching local firms and discovered that working with a specialist outfit was the only way to get the exact style I desired. The ability to pick each element, from the colour of the stain to the position of the power sockets, made the end result was just as I pictured. I also got a small secret compartment built for keeping valuable tools like fancy spoons. This kind of personalisation is what renders the service special. It did not seem like a generic piece being forced into a space where it didn't belong. Instead, it looks like it has forever been a part of the house. If you are thinking about a similar home improvement, my tip would be to remain calm and spend the effort on the design stage. It is far better to change a drawing than it is to modify a unit once it is built. The expertise provided at the beginning was invaluable in preventing me from making common errors, such as placing the cooler too near to a heat source. These small bits of wisdom are what you buy for when you choose skilled experts. I am currently looking at other areas of my home to see where else I could install built-in storage. The outcome of this fitted project has given me the drive to start a bigger task in the kitchen next season. It has been a wonderful addition to my daily routine, and I view ahead to numerous seasons of using it with relatives and friends. Finding the proper balance between looks and use was the goal, and I think we reached it perfectly. The journey from a cluttered alcove to a sleek social point was truly deserving the effort and investment spent. I today possess a home that I am truly happy to show with to others. Reading has some great venues to visit for a cocktail, but honestly, I now prefer being at my place and using my own personal bar. It provides the identical feel without the noise or the commute. That itself is deserving the whole undertaking. I am so pleased with how the lighting functions in the evening, providing a relaxing space to relax after a busy shift at work. It is the little treats like this that render home living much rewarding and enjoyable. I highly value the workmanship that went into the finished product. The way the doors close with a soft click speaks plenty about the construction quality. No aspect was overlooked, and the total look is exactly what I needed it would be when I originally began this adventure. It is a testament to the skill of the fitters and the standard of the components used. I am a truly happy customer.
